So Long!!!

So Long since I have last done anything with this stuff - both kids at school, working three days a week and flat chat!! But at last I have some time to play - so here are a few things I have had for a while -am working on some new stuff - probably more vintage than anything else as I like this myself. But have found some really cool crocheted beads so they could be fun!! Am also back on the new www.madeit.com.au, site so keen to get something happening there.

New Beads

Hunting through my favourite beads shops the other day I found these gorgeous ceramic hand made beads from Africa - they look great as earrings. Thinking of using them on some big tribal sort of thing not sure yet.

Also been playing around with more wire work as opposed to beading - not too sure yet!! Bit fiddly - definitely need to get some new specs! Will see what my first creation looks like before I start posting any images!

Vintage Creations

The colours of "vintage" jewellery are a delight to work with. The aged brass look, the various patina's you can create on the metal, the rich purples, reds and greens. And for some reason, it leaves you more open to try different combinations and looks. I have had great fun with this style and am keen to try more.

oh Heart of Mine!

The history of the heart shape in jewellery can be traced to a number of sources - ancient Egypt, Christianity and even the symbol for erotic love in Ancient Africa. Where ever its source, the heart is one of the most commonly used symbols in modern day jewellery making, and you really can't beat a beautiful piece of jewellery that features a heart - and so this week I have been hunting for some lovely heart pieces to display.

Charming!

I have had a bit of a thing for charm bracelets for a while now - not your typical charm bracelets but ones that are full of things - the more the merrier! I love the chunky feel and the rattle and clink as you move - makes you feel like you are really wearing jewellery!

I have played with lots of different materials on my charms - from simple glass beads, to shells, stones, and the more traditional shape charms. I love making them for kids as well - these bracelets are strong and tough enough to stand up to all sorts of abuse - even my girls!

Launch of mandysue designs!

Welcome to the opening of my blog and the launch of mandysue designs onto the internet. After a few years of making jewelery only to give it away of stuff it into the back of a cupboard I have decided to see if I can make any money out of it - hence mandysue designs.

I have experimented and played around with a lot of different mediums from glass beads to gemstones, modern to vintage, kids stuff to adult and slowly I think I am starting to develop my own style. But I will put up images here of all my stuff and would truly welcome your feedback - be gentle!!

I also have shop on etsy www. mandysue01.etsy.com which is an US based site selling everything hand made, and a shop on www.madeit.com.au - an Aussie version .

So please look, buy if you want to!!!! and let me know what you think!
